for the past few days i have been walking the city been trying to capture the city as i experience it.

my trip home is two days in and has been packed with all things relaxing and fulfilling. my family, amazing meals, and a stand-up paddle board are all helping me recharge the close to empty battery i was running on. one to two more days in the hamptons followed by a week in new york will hopefully cure the robotic motion and humdrum my life sometimes seems to creep into. below are a couple of photos from my weekend, i will be documenting the rest of my trip with photos, stay tuned.

.the routine.

ive been asked several times about my makeup regimen and i finally decided take some time to post it. i love a fresh clean look. thankfully, i was blessed with a good complexion so i try to thank my skin by not bombarding it with unnecessary pollutants (ie. foundation, heavy lotion, powder, etc.).

1) after a quick rinse with soap, i moisturize with oil of olay, my mother's favourite facial lotion.
2) a dab of concealer, i use a liquid mac. i find its the most natural consistency i've ever used and very user-friendly.
3) cheek stain. the key with a cheek stain is a very light circle on the apple, and to rub outward. i've found one cheek at a time is less stressful since it does absorb quickly.
4) great lash mascara. i have tried every kind out there and by far this is my mainstay.
5) for nights out or when i find the time, i due a liner on my lid. this is usually the extent of my eye makeup.
6) fresh sugar lip balm. so soft and it has a lovely tint and scent to it.

and wa-lah! all done. very easy, and basic enough to apply to every skin tone.

.k-town in bed & new kicks.

i heart k-town in new york. so imagine my joy when i find my local grocery does a ready made korean bulgogi beef, i nearly squealed. i complimented it of course with some kimchee and decided to eat in bed catching up on my favorite blogs/sites. also i thought i'd shoot my new loafers, they're very comfy and i can't wait to stomp around in them....all around a great end to the day.

 last thursday i was thrilled to do the first of my weekly shop file series on kitty, located in scottsdale quarters. From the moment you step in, you realize you've hit girl dream world. The entire boutique is packed with the perfect presents for yourself and friends; encyclopedia-sized books on YSL, DIOR, Harper’s Bazaar, house of harlow baubles (which I’ll be back for), furry cellphone cases (all the rage on the fashion photographer blogosphere), and every, and im mean every, Hello Kitty item on the market. and to top it all off, there was champagne and a book signing for a breakup cookbook titled, 'screw the skinny bitches, i want to eat' by sonya zepeda - a kitchsy cookbook on the journey from mourning breakup recipes thru to over it recipes, a great present for the girlfriend with a recently departed schmoe. i happy left with a new tokyo milk perfume called gin & rosewater and will be visiting again to embark on another ultra-girly excursion..four stars, kitty!

.weekend activities 5.13.

this weekend was two days of being absolutely visually gluttonous. friday night we left for a night of camping lakeside at roosevelt. the vases of flower below were freshly-picked for our campfire breakfast and it was so lovely to wake up with the shore three feet away. the day was spent on the lake, relaxing and enjoying cocktails at the lakebar with our amazing friends. we ended the day at a quirky restaurant on the way home called the punkin lodge and grill, decorated throughout with music memorabilia.

mad men is on tonight. on top of the intriguing story lines, of course one of my favourite pieces of the show is watching how the women dress. its like walking into an era museum exhibit and getting a true feel of the trends and women's tastes at that time. below are a couple of topshop picks that i can't wait to see out this summer.

below is my find from turnstyle consignment on scottsdale and shea. i almost didn't notice it because it was hanging backwards on the rack, but wow is it perfect for my summer easy dresses. the store is chock-full of great consignment and i highly recommend a visit.

.night garden tour.

last night i went for a stroll in my boyfriend's aunt franny's garden. their home is so warm and inviting, and it extends out past its walls, all the way out to the street. dusk i'm beginning to find is the perfect light for beautiful pictures and i found i was outside at the perfect transition from early night to dark, which made for fantastic photos.

.the workout: inception fitness.

as i write to you, i feel the satisfying aches of an amazing workout. this weekend i was lucky enough to meet the owners of inception fitness, joe and larry, who graciously invited me to their newly opened scottsdale gym. words cannot express the intense workout that ensued. by far the best part of the workout was the enthusiasm larry and joe jointly brought to the hour long session, jam-packed with kettle weights, jumping jacks, burpees and good beats. i loved the experience and will be visiting again next week.....or once i recover, of course. this deserved a four star rating.
