holiday season equals heavy weekend schedules, sugar cookies, white elephant gifts, tree trimmings, and of course the occasional ugly sweater. what better time is there also in the year than to add a metallic pump to the mix? finally i have found an alternative to the go-to black heel; these kicks i found in the black friday frenzy, amidst a crowd of similar women thinking, what to wear for my upcoming office/friend's/boyfriend's/family holiday party??
these will be making the rounds to several of the above this season.
among some of my favourite things to do is to go to my favorite thrift store to jewelery hunt. i found these beautiful gold metal flowers for a dollar on my last visit and i can't wait to show them off. the one drawback to them is that they are clip-on and sit a little high on my ear lobes....i have to figure out a better way to wear them, perhaps on a necklace or bracelet?
what better way to start a monday morning off than to think about next weekend's outings and what newbies in the wardrobe will be showcased? not much i don't think. so please see exhibit A below. my closet has never been a huge animal print supporter, something about the busy-ness of the print made me weary of it, even in small doses. this top however, made me change my spots, o lala! found this treasure while flipping through the pixie market website here. i think it's the mix of the valentino frill with the dolce & gabbana rawrrrr. and i'm still thinking about the slippers from the target x neinman marcus collection found here.
something's in the air, and i'm liking it. happy monday.
it seems you cannot flip through any fashion magazine without seeing the beautiful joan smalls, the puerto rican supermodel. i as a filipino-american, get mistaken for several different ethnicities, which i adore; i love the idea that my looks cannot be pin-pointed to just one country or origin. seeing emerging models of different ethnicity's coming to the forefront of fashion is always so inspiring, it makes me happy see diversity mixed with great style.
on femininity, indulge your irrationality: "picasso said that chanel had the most sense of any woman in europe, and part of that good sense meant that occasionally behaving as if she'd lost her mind, in the interest of reassuring men in her life that she was irrational in a reliably feminine fashion."

remember that ladies, the next time you lose it. it's nature, and expected.
tonight i paired my trampoline with two pairs of kicks, both with completely different adventures in mind. to the left, bianca, is ready for a festive holiday party, which would include dinner, drinks and dancing....so fun and sparkly. to the right, hudson, is ready for a relaxing brunch, followed by window shopping and hiding in its favourite nook in barnes and nobles....perfect for a saturday afternoon.
my wish are both will let me tag along.

i'm baaaaccckkk!! it's been a nice hiatus from the lpt blog, but the quiet bliss must come to an end, and i'm ready to contribute again....it's nice to see people have been stopping by to check up though! so to kick off my return, i thought i'd share one of my guilt pleasures of being a girl.
since my teens ive gotten uber-excited for the annual victoria secret show. it's fun, silly, energetic, and frilly.....perfect to get you in the holiday spirit, yay!!
for a upcoming event i had decided to keep a look out for a pair of red pumps. my vision was to put together a primary color look blue, red and green, each hue represented on one piece of my outfit. seeing that i dont have a green shoe, nor have i ever wanted to, the thought of finding a great red pump intrigued me. this however came to a halting stop this afternoon, and might indefinitely until i can answer this question: might i look like a hooker in these? i tried on every type i could find, high heel, platform, mary jane, mid-heel with a bow....and all i could think of was the pretty woman sequence.
so until i find a pair that rids me of this feeling, the search is firmly on hold.
it seems appropriate with the time changes, turning seasons, and the anticipation of colder weather that i am craving rest. snooze, nap, rem, hibernate, count sheep, shut-eye, the whole bit. with this said since i'm terrible at sitting still, its made me take a break from other daily activities, such as blogging.
so while i get a little rest-eye, i'll leave you with a fitting image....i'll be back in a few days, refreshed and ready to contribute again.
my new inspirational board. found at the local thrift shoppe, it is the newest addition to my creative outposts. for me its so much more interesting to find bits of inspiration and to push pin it up, like a living and breathing painting.
things pinned right now: red micro-fringed bag, red jacket, blue 40s page in harpers bazaar (i tend to always love the 40s and up trends), large dangling earrings, katie holmes fringe, gwyneth, and margherita missoni's beauty regimen, and winged earrings.
i think its quite fitting my first leap into outfit posting would be in a version of nightwear. i apologize in advance as i ease into the process, it may be a long and awkward one, but please bear with me. these images are taken by a photographer im so excited to work with, Sebastien Trouver, who already has a knack for making my awkward look cool. top by asos and jeans by urban outfitters.
my favourite thing to do on weekends is brunch explorations. the arrogant butcher, in the heart of phoenix, was a welcome departure from our usual north scottsdale haunts. with the food and drink being amazing, the service was also top notch. our two servers checked (and confirmed) our meals preparation was one-hundred percent gluten-free, which is very much appreciated. the ambiance is comfortable and bright, perfect for a saturday. loved it.
while its still reaching the 90s in phoenix, every morning it gets just a little bit chillier outside, to the point of wearing a light jacket to the gym. flipping through the celine spring ready to wear this morning this look made me giddy for the upcoming colder months. come to thinking of arizona's colder months, they are like an extended east coast fall, you can wear (almost) all the colder weather trends, without unraveling the scarf, taking off the gloves, and unbuttoning the heavy wool coat.
"I am always drawn back to places where I have lived, the houses and
their neighborhoods. For instance, there is a brownstone in the East
Seventies where, during the early years of the war, I had my first New
York apartment. It was one room crowded with attic furniture, a sofa and
fat chairs upholstered in that itchy, particular red velvet that one
associates with hot days on a tram. The walls were stucco, and a color
rather like tobacco-spit. Everywhere, in the bathroom too, there were
prints of Roman ruins freckled brown with age. The single window looked
out on a fire escape. Even so, my spirits heightened whenever I felt in
my pocket the key to this apartment; with all its gloom, it still was a
place of my own, the first, and my books were there, and jars of pencils
to sharpen, everything I needed, so I felt, to become the writer I
wanted to be."
when it comes to jewelery i tend to veer more towards quantity versus quality. sadly i have lost several key pieces to fun nights out so this mantra has actually worked to my benefit on numerous occasions. one treasured piece of mine (and one never to be lost) is the chanel silver necklace gifted to me on my 24th birthday. in looking at all of my jewelry i definitely purchase more gold, warmer metals, i think because they compliment my skin tone.
at 5:30 am this morning i dragged myself out of bed for spin class. a new form of torture i put my body through, i often walk in half asleep thinking how inexplicably i got there in the first place. with this said, the ongoing trend is pajama dressing, which naturally ive become a huge fan of. being able to walk out of the house in a silk pajama shirt? sign me up. lazy silk trousers with high heels for dinner and drinks? right up my alley.
see below for inspiration from dolce gabbana and stella mccartney.
below is my all-time favourite jacket that seems to make every outfit i own just a tidbit cooler. its by proenza schouler for targets capsule collection and i believe i bought it for twelve dollars. its always funny when i think on the pieces in my closet that have stood the test of time.
proenza schouler for target jacket, gold vintage necklace, aj morgan sunglasses.
any pieces like this in your closet? would love to hear about them!
ive become lazy as a lady. i looked around the closet this weekend to see that i no longer have a version of the pump anywhere in sight. all platforms. i didn't like it...in conversation i admit to liking the chunkier heel option as i never felt like i could topple in them, a type of training wheels that i seem to have become acustomed to. my goal is to reverse this, no true lady only wears sky-high platforms, as i should also be able to confidently walk in the stiletto pump. like any training, i must find a reasonably priced pair before i jump to the full speed, see jimmy choos below.
i read an incredibly hilarious m magazine interview with karl lagerfeld as he described his mothers humorous disdain for his choice in hats.
I love hats, in a way, but when I was a child, I’d wear Tyrolean hats,
and my mother — I was something like eight — said to me, ‘You shouldn’t
wear hats. You look like an old dyke.’ Do you say such things to
children? She was quite funny, no?
the reality of this is in style, we all have our 'hats'. mine came in the form of an eighth grade sweater vest i decided to wear on picture day. id post the picture but i think i hid the last few prints of them. below are a couple of hats from alexander mcqueen's spring collection that i think are quite quirky. great for theatre, a little less practical for every day civilian tasks, such as crossing streets.
maiyet has been incredibly impressive with their campaign lineups and im always so pleasantly surprised when they come out with their new photos. their new fall autumn campaign featuring one of my favorites, daria werbowy, gets me so excited for fall.
phoenix has yet to drop to eighty, but here's to the anticipation!
often when i flip through editorials i start to re-imagine what colors and tones i have that make me love the photo so much. i did a quick photo of tonight's inspiration. i would recommend every girl try it at least once, it lends to dreaming up new looks. on this page, green vintage hoops, h&m bracelet, bra by gap body.
torn off the ornate brocade fabric of the palace walls she is draped with my rich, dense texture on her delicate frame. Under the dim metropolitan street lights
lining the Met, I saw my reflection in the passing cars as I fled
the the elaborate paintings of Italian Dignitaries and their dignified
wives. I didn't like their stares, their condescending elitist glares at her disheveled tresses and urban interpretation of
their opulent dresses. we stop momentarily to adjust her black suede
stiletto ankle boots to regain composure.
This is my rebirth, I

i think im turning over a new leaf, or maybe re-turning over an old leaf. im upset to admit my spontaneity with dressing has been dwindling as i get older. if i don't have to, i don't like to plan, i tend to get anxious and it oft takes out some of the fun that it would have been if it had simply just happened. the same can be applied to style. why does it become harder and harder to just throw on the ensemble without thinking of all the other options? well, im over it. from now on, its ten minutes to out the door, no rethinking. a look i put together in a minute, id like to think it channels anna dello russo, and it will (as promised, in some shape of the below image) be quickly thrown together for a fun night out....
go ahead, i dare you to do the same.
asos mesh top, two gold vintage necklaces, ferragamo sunglasses.
friday night ikea date, much to my boyfriend's dismay. it is a forty-minute drive commitment and if not for the fact he needed a new office chair, the idea may have been a disaster. browsing the as-is section (a wonderland of fun returns at discounted prices) i found an assembled clothes rack for seven dollars. with my aversion to outfit posts still an obstacle, i was so happy to find this treasure.
below are another pair of boots that i'm really excited to wear as fall approaches, the studs and leather lacers make them incredibly interesting. these boots, a purchase from my favourite south korean website, yesstyle.com last season, were a great add to the wardrobe. i would highly recommend a visit there for any girl in need of a new clothing site.
the leather harness to be exact. this max azria for herve leger is merely one example of a great way a harness adds a little bite to an outfit. the question is, can you only pull this off with a negative size zero frame?....hmmmm....might have to save this look for a skinny week.
my marc jacobs wonder woman boots, a present to myself after i graduated university with three great job offers. i didn't realize the symbolism in them until i really started paving a career and living in the big persons world. now when i put them on a feel crazy powerful- and ready to save the day.
i am thrilled with elizabeth and james spring collection. it looks to have several undertones of the row label and more
than ever before shows parallels to the olsen twins personal style.
peep the gray robe below, my favorite piece/look, which i think could be
worn all year long. all in all, the collection has the signature
comfortable ease i look for and selectively are things i would add to my
wardrobe. with this said, im ready for fall and to add layers upon
layers upon layers.
