my fascination with all things frank lloyd wright hit a high note this morning. i finally made it up to a tour of taliesin west (welsh for 'shining brow'). i have always had a fascination with frank lloyd wright's work, and feel i share a kindred spirit with his aesthetic. i can happily say i have lived in three areas of the united states where he has had his most influential works, falling water, pennsylvania, oak park residence, chicago illinois, and finally taliesin west, nestled in scottsdale, arizona. taliesin west, frank lloyd wright's project created with the commission fees from fallingwater, was his winter home surrounded by 640 acres of land. a glorified 'camping' ground, he created the entire home out of the natural elements and used this space to experiment all of his ideas. i absolutely loved the tour, would recommend it, and vow to host a party at some point in my life there.
