.cocktails, fun & fashion.

at last! a chance to share my photos from my fantastic fno night...fingers-crossed something i will be able to attend annually going forward. i think the most fascinating part of this event is how it took over the entire city. soho to madison to meatpacking to greenwich village, and every small boutique in between had lights gleaming and cocktails circulating, a site to see with only three years under its belt.

my sisters (four minus one, sorely missed) all met up in the meatpacking district. one sister, a resident of horatio and washington, is a stone's throw away from the craziness which started early- each store offering something signature and unique. fake lashes at louboutin, graffiti artists at scoop,  a band & drinks and cupcakes at theory and rebecca taylor, the scene was endless with everyone buzzing and happy to be together. our stops were theory, all saints, rebecca taylor, levi's for country music and a final stop at catherine malandrino, which offered manis and drinks followed by a cab uptown. 

we ended the night in columbus circle at the mandarine oriental for a conde naste party-a perfect escape from the city's madness with my sisters and friends.

.boots, my painting & saturday plans.

the past couple of weeks have been incredibly busy as i prep for a week-trip to ny. the hurricane is on its way through and i'm anxious for my sisters in the city-i know they're taking all the safety precautions and praying the storm will pass harming no one in its path. with the sun blazing and intense heat wave in arizona, temperatures reaching record highs, my plans are to keep cool, tidy the apartment & catch up on all of the september issues!

below are the marni boots and painting that are on my favorite list this week- i found the boots, originally $900 for $60 dollars at nordstrom rack and cannot wait to stomp around in them this fall. the painting is an entertaining story, after a year plus of having two blank canvas up on my wall i finally took the plunge and re-interpreted one of my favorite rothkos- i love how it turned out and have a picture below on the prep and supplies...

my love brought me to a favorite of mine's last night and the performance was incredible. death cab played so many of my favorite songs-i have never been to such a crowd pleasing concert and am thrilled i was lucky enough to go.

august's w magazine is the perfect escape post hectic work day. tilda swinton is featured this month with an interesting article on her oscar dress by lanvin's alber elbaz and her acting slash fashion inspirations. famous for her androgynous image, her pictures are a bit spooky but beautifully crafted. continuing to flip through (backwards of course which is how i typically get through fashion magazines) i was pleasantly surprised that giovanni battaglia has a monthly section entitled "gio's journal" a picture diary of travel, experiences and people she has encountered over the past month. overall, w made for a fantastic night and i'm now considering a permanent subscription.

editorial perfection from grace coddington. i loved her interviews in the 'september issue'-grace revealed her intricate thought process and passion for soft focus photography.

a true original-i always look foward to flipping through her pages of vogue.

i get so excited visiting united nude's website, the shoes are structurally beautiful and to me look like mini modern buildings/landmarks.

i absolutely love their spring/summer collection but by far my favorite shoes are their rich leather boots....ah, fall...

i adore the passion in these photos for dolce & gabbana's spring 2011 campaign. i think the lovely focal point is that the women in these photos are so perfectly primped and enraged at the same time.

i'm on the fence with animal prints. i think women that pull it off are few and far between-however the forever king of animal prints is and will always be italian designer roberto cavalli. below are my favorite three looks from his fall 2011 rtw collection.  i imagine wearing these pieces mixed with my simpler style pallette.

for years when ive suddenly want to change up my hairstyle ive referenced miss helena christensen's hair for inspiration. it always looks just the right amount of undone and messy-but still chic and classic.

i have yet to achieve this balance-but maybe one day...
