intellectual ruffles

yesterday afternoon was a perfect happenstance. on a friend's recommendation i've been meaning to make a visit to the museum of phoenix's art exhibit entitled, " fashion independent: the original style of ann bonfoey taylor". with the museum open until nine only on wednesdays, i knew this was going to be my last chance to see the exhibit before its memorial day close.

upon arrival with a friend i noticed the museum was filled with people dressed up, an unusual site on a wednesday night in phoenix. with excited buzz on the night’s lecture swirling around me, i asked a nearby docent who was speaking that night. hamish bowles, the european editor at large for vogue was doing a lecture entitled, “balenciaga in spain” a discussion on his in-depth research on the life of designer cristóbal balenciaga. the lecture was amazing with balenciaga’s sketches juxtaposed with religious, spanish traditional, and abstract art. the parallels were remarkable and mr. bowles truly presented the perfect balance between fashion and timeless art.

below are some images that a took throughout the visit, my only regret was not having more time to walk through the entire museum. i will be visiting again very soon.

xxo, dany
